Modules
What is an Airbag Control Module?
An Air Bag Module is the "brain" behind the airbag system that tells
the airbag whether or not to deploy.
Where is the Airbag Control Module located?
The location for this unit varies with manufacturer, but is most often
underneath one of the front seats. Generally, an airbag control module
has an arrow on the case pointing toward the front of the vehicle.
Do I have to have a new one if my airbag deploys?
This varies by make and model of car. In many cars before year 2000, the
module would reset upon installation of undeployed airbags. After year
2000, many cars require the module to be reset/replaced as a matter of
course when either/both airbags deploy.
How will I know it needs to be reset?
There are a couple of ways - your airbag light may be on (signaling
there is some sort of fault even if your airbags have not deployed); your
airbag light won't go off after the installation of undeployed airbags,
or your dealer/mechanic mentions a problem to you. It's a safe bet after
airbag deployment that your module will need to be reset or replaced.
My dealer told me it had to be replaced with a new one
Many dealers will tell you that in order to sell a module. Other dealers
simply are not aware that modules can be reset. We are not aware of any
modules that absolutely cannot be reset - there may be some out there -
we just haven't encountered them yet.
How long will it take?
Resetting a module takes approximately 10 business days from when we
receive your module. The cost is $135 and that includes shipping it back
to you. Our work is guaranteed.
It looks like there is more than one module for my make/model of car -
how do I know which one is the one I need?
Each module has a part or serial number on it - the safest thing to do
is get a direct match to that part/serial number as modules vary
depending on number of airbags in the car, etc....

Where do you get your airbags?
Hicks Parts purchases airbags from a variety of sources like salvage
yards, wholesalers, dealers, etc....We buy in bulk to get the best
pricing and our inventory changes all the time.
How do I know your airbag will work for me?
The original, factory airbags we sell are an exact replacement for the
airbag that came with your car. You just need to make sure that the
airbag you purchase from us is for the correct year (often a year range)
and has the correct number and color plug on the back as the one that
was in your car.
Do you need my blown airbag?
No.
Are your airbags used?
Calling an airbag used is a bit of a misnomer. An airbag is either
deployed or not deployed - it doesn't matter if it's been in another car
before you put it in yours. None of our airbags have been deployed or
otherwise altered.
I need a VIN number with any airbag I purchase.
We do not have VINs or original receipts with our airbags. You will
receive a receipt for your purchase from us. Please check the
requirements of your state before purchasing.

phone orders. Online orders may be placed using your credit card only.
What is a Safety Restraint Sytem?
The Safety Restraint System (SRS) in your car includes several
components that work together to protect the occupants in the event of a
wreck. Some of those components are the seatbelts, airbag, and
pre-tensioner on the seatbelts. Airbags are a part of the SRS and are
meant to be used in conjuction with your seatbelt as demonstrated by the
Airbag Blaster.
